Who writes it, on what basis, and when it is corrected

How the calculations and explanations on this site are produced, and how errors get corrected.

Publisher and editorial responsibility

OmniTools (omnitoolkit.net) is built and operated by Seongjin Choi. The calculation logic, the guide text, and the verification of every standard and paper cited are the publisher’s responsibility. Editorial enquiries go through the Contact tab.

What the calculations are based on

Every tool implements a fixed formula or a public specification. Each tool states its basis on the “Basis” line, together with the date that basis was last checked against the original source — a specification number (RFC 8259, RFC 4648, ISO/IEC 18004, ECMA-262), a paper (Mifflin-St Jeor 1990, Ainsworth 2011, Wilcox 1995) or an institutional document (WHO, ACOG). The Sources section links out to those documents.

The market-data tools (currency, precious metals, crypto, stocks) pass through values from public APIs as of the time of lookup. They report rather than calculate, so the Basis line says so and states the delay involved.

Limits stated up front

Every tool carries a “Before you rely on this” note directly under the result, never behind a toggle. It is not one boilerplate sentence repeated everywhere but the specific misreading that tool invites — that BMI cannot separate muscle from fat, that a fertile-window estimate must not be used for contraception, that Base64 is not encryption.

Health tools additionally state that they have not been reviewed by a medical professional. That is simply true, and disclosing it is better than leaving it unsaid.

Updates and corrections

When a formula or constant changes, that tool’s verification date moves with it. If a result is reported as wrong, it is re-checked against the original source and corrected — without hiding that it was wrong. Reports come in through the Contact tab.

Advertising and editorial independence

This site is funded by advertising. Advertisers have no say in which tools get built, what the guides say, or which sources are cited, and no payment is accepted for such influence. Ads are visually separated from the content and are never styled to look like it. Details are in the Advertising & Cookie Policy.

Use of AI

There is no AI feature on this site that answers user questions. Every calculation runs on a fixed formula; nothing is generated. AI tools assist in drafting the guide text and translating it into ten languages, but every specification, paper and figure cited is checked against the original source by the publisher before it ships.

Your data

All calculations run inside your browser and your inputs are never sent to a server. Convenience settings such as favourites, language and currency are stored only on the device you are using and disappear when you clear the browser’s data. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
